10 reasons to move to Greece…

10 reasons to move to Greece…

Nov 3, 2011

Greece has big troubles. The country is on the brink of bankruptcy that will probably take it out of  the eurozone and back to the old, cheap dracma. Greeks are angry this period, they get on the streets, protesting almost in daily basis, often in a violent way. Greeks feel not acceptable in our own country. Austerity measures, lack of jobs, extra taxes and a sense of hopelessness make almost everybody thinking: “maybe should I move somewhere else?”

We are almost 9 months in the Tanzanian bush. If Vula was pregnant on December, when we arrived here from Greece, we would now expect a baby. We don’t, for bad or for good…

27 full moons in Asia

27 full moons in Asia

Aug 2, 2011

There is a Greek biker, Elias Vrohidis, whom we had met at Amritsar, three years ago. Elias was born in Thessaloniki but seemed to be a restless soul since he was 5 years old, when he left his grandma’s house and was found on the other side of the second biggest Greek city. Elias grew up and decided to follow his heart, hitting the road on his bike. He did it and in the end he enjoyed 27 months in central Asia on his small enduro Honda XR250.

When Elias returned to Greece he was dedicated to sailing but in the meantime he published a very interesting book where he tell all the story of his trip.

The book is entitled “27 full moons in the East” and is written in Greek. Good news for Greek speaker is that reading this book you feel as if Elias takes you on his bike and gives you a rough, breathtaking ride in central Asia and in the Indian sbcontinent.

Thank you for sharing all this mate!

It doesn’t really matter if you are a travel writer. If you travel  and you like to write about your adventures, theworldoffroad can be your blog. If you have a nice story to tell, just write it and send it to Akis & Vula at info@theworldoffroad.com.

We will publish if its accompanied by one photo at least. So don’t think too much. Just go back to your travels, pick up a nice moment, write 5 words about (or 100 – 200 maximum) and send it. We may create a nice community of hardcore travellers, backpackers and overlanders here…
