Today was meant to be a transition day. It proved to be interesting though\u2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This morning we woke up late and after we talked to Michael Fotiadis, said goodbye to Ahmed (our guide in Chinguetti) and bought some bread (hot for 100 UM) and water, we drove to Atar and from there to Nouakchott, via the most boring road on the world: 500 km. or so, straight line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vula was working at the back seat on our VAIO and I was listening to our ipod collection driving in economy mode at 95-100 km.\/h. At one moment, 100 km before Nouakchott we got out of the car for the first point at a place where the sand was totally white. It was like snow but the Suunto indicated 42 degrees C. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was like an oven, god! So we arrived at the capital with the A\/C working full, meanwhile Christoph had difficult times in his Defender that has no clima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, in Nouakchott, vula was shocked with the local lifestyle, a blend o goats, donkey cars and Mercedes 190, all going in frenzy pace on the city roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tonight we will stay at a residence room, that Nicolas Georgiadis arranged for us. And you know what? Crazy guy (but real friend) he is now driving from Nouadhibou (450 kms away) to have dinner with us here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomorrow, though, we have to say goodbye to Nicolas and Mauritania, as well. We enter Senegal so the images featured from now on, will never be the same again\u2026_A.Temperidis<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
