Not only me good company with Nicolas Georgiadis and his friends there, but we met other travelers who gave us useful tips for our trip to Gabon and Congo \u2013 the pain in the ass of our African route\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, we headed towards Rosso, the town at the Senegalese border, about 200 kms. from Nouakchott. Accompanied by Christoph Bangert, with whom we stick together perfectly for one week or so. At Rosso, as expected, various hustlers approached us to help pass the border that has a pretty bad reputation for the corruption of the officers there. So, we chose to drove 80 more kms. off road, parallel to the Senegal river (natural border of Mauritania and Senegal) to arrive to another customs station. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the Mauritanian side, our life was not so easy. Despite the bargain, we had to pay 10 euros each car to the customs, plus 10 euros to the police. \u201cPour la fromalite\u201d, no other reason. We also paid 400 francs CFA to pass the river bridge. At the Senegalese side, officers asked for more money but we where tough enough, so we passed through for free!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Senegal, the atmosphere is totally different. Fashioned guys and beautiful girls walk around everywhere, that you don\u2019t find so easy in Mauritania. We arrived in Saint Luis where we were impressed by this vibrant town, the first colonized by French. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are thousands of fishing boats and a huge fishing market here. The town itself is built on the two sides of Senegal river and in the middle there is an island connected by a 600 mt. long metal bridge, made by Gustav Eiffel. The place is famous for it\u2019s Jazz scene and the relative festival, organized every May. We missed it but we won\u2019t miss local lifestyle from tomorrow\u2026<strong><em>A.
